Weddings can feel a little bit cookie-cutter sometimes, but who wants that!? Your wedding should feel like you and should tell your story, so here are four easy ways you can personalize your wedding.
While there’s no law that says your siblings have to be in your wedding party, it’s a great way to include your built-in best friend(s) in your big day! If you aren’t having a wedding party, you could also have them be ushers, MCs, or even your officiant.
Another note: I promise it’s not a requirement to keep each side of the wedding party to one gender. My brother was my Man of Honor, but you can swap people around however you choose! Don’t feel restricted by the wording of “bridesmaids” or “groomsmen,” and refer to them as your “wedding party” or your respective “attendants.”
We love our furry friends, so it only feels natural to include them in all of our special moments. Here are a few things to keep in mind before planning for a ring bearing beagle or a kitten of honor:
Bring treats- If you need your dog to walk down an aisle, you’re definitely going to need bribes.
Check with your venue- Hopefully this is obvious, but you have to make sure your venue is okay with animals on site.
Arrange pet care- Please, please, please don’t make your sweet pets stick around for hours at your reception. After the ceremony (or pictures or first dance), make sure you have a pet sitter lined up to bring them back home and take care of them for the rest of the night or longer if you’re headed straight to a hotel or your honeymoon.
Signature cocktails are a super fun way to infuse personality into your wedding. Looking for a drink that reminds you of your first date? Want to include your pets without having them on location? Do it with a signature cocktail!
Whether your bar service is being provided by your venue, your caterer, or a bartending service, they should be able to help you craft something delicious and meaningful. If you’re not having alcohol, you can still do a signature mocktail or other drink!
If you want to avoid signature drinks altogether, your bar menu is still a great way to add some personality into your wedding day.
There are countless ways to personalize your attire- anywhere from stitching a love note into your partner’s tie to wearing your mom’s wedding gown. But for now, we’re talking about add-on items like my personal fave: jackets!
Custom jackets are so. freaking. cute. Denim jackets are already my favorite wardrobe staple, so wedding denim is v on-brand for me. You can have it customized with your wedding date, “Newlyweds,” “Bride,” “Hubby,” or whatever your heart desires! Check out Jackets x Niki for even more custom jacket ideas and alllll the denim inspo!
