This Unity Village wedding editorial might just be my favorite one yet! Inspired by the ethereal romance of an Italian elopement, we wanted to bring European romance to the heartland. When Mary Frances first approached me with this concept, I fell in love! Keep scrolling to see some of this absolutely stunning gallery with an incredible team of Kansas City wedding vendors!
Picture this: a crisp spring day, where sunlight and breeze engage in a gentle dance. That’s the canvas upon which we painted our editorial masterpiece. The season was on our side (though a tad warm), and that energy is visible in the final product.
Firstly, let me introduce you to the heart of our editorial– Unity Village. Its allure lies in the delicate fusion of European charm and timeless elegance. The architecture hints at the wonders of distant lands, while the gardens feel like an enchanting hideaway from a storybook. It’s the kind of place where every frame is a work of art.
Unity Village is incredibly versatile, offering an array of spaces for all seasons and styles. Outdoors, the gardens provided a lush backdrop, where vows could be exchanged under the open sky. The indoor spaces, equally enchanting, embraced the essence of elegance with striking architectural details and an opportunity to play with light. From the sun-kissed outdoor spaces to the sophisticated interiors, Unity Village showcased its dynamic charm, ensuring every moment, whether for ceremonies, receptions, or portraits, felt like stepping into a storybook world.
And let’s not forget the fountains – after all, we’re in the City of Fountains. Unity Village’s fountains at the center of the campus was the perfect setting for bridal portraits. Their gentle splashes provided a soothing melody, creating a picturesque setting that was both serene and mesmerizing. It is of my personal belief that all Unity Village wedding guests should sit and listen to nothing but the sound of the fountains for at least 5 minutes.
Colors set the stage for any event, and for this editorial, we aimed for a palette that would transport us to the coastlines of Europe. Mary Frances Weddings, the photography virtuoso, envisioned a coastal and romantic vibe, and so we chose soft, ethereal hues. Think delicate blush, calming dusty blue, and serene muted greens – a combination that effortlessly brought the shoot’s romantic essence to life.
Megan with Rock Scissors Paperie translated the palette and theme flawlessly through the paper details of the day. From wedding invitations to menus, the stationery was stunning.
Now, let’s talk about that one breathtaking detail that stole the spotlight. Collaborators Caitlin from Designwise KC and Megan from Rock Scissors Paperie gave life to a concept that had been lingering in our imaginations – this olive oil favor wall and escort card display. The sight was a whimsical fusion of creativity and hospitality. Caitlin’s stunning wall paired with Megan’s custom escort card bottle labels were a true masterpiece that enchanted all who saw them.
In the grand play of this editorial, our models, Catera and Ta’Vian, stepped into the spotlight. Their attire, courtesy of The One Bridal and Drue Donelson (formerly with Tip Top Tux), epitomized elegance. Catera’s first gown (more on that later), a delicate soft blush ballgown, harmonized perfectly with the romantic setting. Ta’Vian’s dapper suit exuded a suave sophistication that complemented the entire theme.
The sparkling finishing touches must be remembered! Our friends at Mahal Made Jewelry provided the sprinkle on top of an altogether beautiful bride. Throughout the day, we had an absolute blast experimenting with an array of exquisite pieces, each one adding a unique flair to the already enchanting atmosphere. From dainty necklaces to statement earrings, the jewelry added that extra touch of elegance and allure that completed our vision.
Now, let’s talk about the heart of the reception – the outdoor table that whispered tales of a romantic feast. Supply Event Rentals provided a stunning selection of rental items, while Citrus Table’s linens served as the base. Bud vases from Sweet Chamomile Floral graced the table, each one cradling delicate blooms that added a touch of nature’s grace. And oh, the pink glassware! These charming pieces lent a sense of whimsy to the scene, reflecting the playfulness of a love story in bloom. The table design was an array of textures and colors, inviting guests to share in the beauty of this ethereal gathering, indeed.
Now, let’s satisfy our cravings for the sweet and the visual. Kate Smith Soiree treated us to mouthwatering macarons, each a work of art in itself. Sweet Chamomile Floral transformed the surroundings with delicate bud vases combined with larger arrangements, adding a touch of opulence to the whole ambiance.
This shoot was so much fun. It’s not often that we have so many vendors on site, but the collaboration made the day that much more magical. Our team of vendors harmonized like a well-rehearsed orchestra, each note playing a part in creating an unforgettable composition. We were simultaneously full of excitement, creativity, and a sense of shared purpose.
We took a short break to cool down and afterward, we unveiled a second gown from The One Bridal, and let me tell you, it was pure magic. This gown embraced a whimsical spirit, with intricate detailing that seemed to weave dreams into reality. Obviously a departure from the simplicity of the first gown, this ensemble added an extra layer of enchantment to the day. Let’s just pretend we took a fairy from Italy to Greece just so this dress could have its moment.
So, there you have it – a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the mesmerizing Unity Village wedding editorial photoshoot that turned this corner of Kansas City into a realm of romance. From the soft color palette to the exquisite decor, every facet was particularly orchestrated to weave together a tale of elegance and charm.
