Crystal-Inspired Wedding at The Pavilion Event Space | Ali & KJ

Ali and KJ’s wedding at The Pavilion Event Space in Kansas City was a magical blend of vibrant colors, mystical elements, and pure joy. From the moment we started planning, it was clear that this wedding would be anything but ordinary. Their love story moved at lightning speed; finding out they were expecting their baby girl just three months into dating. It was only fitting that their wedding day would be filled with unique personal touches that reflected their journey together.

Getting Ready

The day began with Ali and KJ getting ready surrounded by their closest friends and family. Ali and her bridesmaids enjoyed a relaxing morning, complete with hair and makeup by LV Hairdos, Blush & Bobby, and Shelice Sheppard. The atmosphere was light and joyful, setting the tone for the day.

First Look & Wedding Party Photos

The first look took place in a secluded garden area of The Pavilion, where KJ saw Ali for the first time in her stunning gown. The look on his face said it all—pure love and admiration. The couple then joined their wedding party for photos, capturing the fun and excitement of the day. E. Golden Moments Photography did a fantastic job of capturing the genuine joy and love between Ali and KJ, as well as the vibrant energy of their friends and family.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Pavilion Event Space

The ceremony took place outside under a beautiful arch adorned with flowers from Good Earth Floral. Debra Baker, aka Healing Debra, officiated the ceremony with heartfelt words that reflected Ali and KJ’s unique love story. The couple chose not to have a traditional proposal, instead focusing on their journey together—starting a family, building a business, and now, getting married. Their vows were a testament to their deep connection and shared dreams.

As guests transitioned to the cocktail hour, they enjoyed a delightful blend of Ali and KJ’s passions. The bar featured specialty cocktails named after basketball moves, a nod to KJ’s coaching career and their basketball organization, YouHoop. The desserts, catered by Cosentino’s, included treats inspired by basketball. Guests enjoyed mingling and taking photos in the JLJ Photography photobooth, capturing memories of this special day.

Reception inside The Pavilion Event Space

Inside The Pavilion, the reception was a sight to behold. We chose the color palette by looking at Ali’s favorite crystals—aventurine, amethyst, celestite, citrine, clear quartz, rose quartz, and selenite. Each table featured a unique crystal centerpiece, and guests were invited to take home a crystal that spoke to them, along with a custom “crystal menu” detailing each stone’s appearance and meaning. This thoughtful touch was a hit and added a personal element to the décor.

The couple’s grand entrance was followed by their first dance, a beautiful moment that set the tone for the evening. The dinner, catered by Big Belly KC, was a culinary delight, and the cake from Cosentino’s was both beautiful and delicious. FK MENACE kept the dance floor packed, with guests dancing the night away in celebration of Ali and KJ’s love.

Crystal Wedding Inspiration

One of the standout elements of the day was the incorporation of crystals into the overall design. When Ali initially came to us with an already stunning floral proposal, we suggested incorporating her love of crystals more prominently. She loved the idea, and we ran with it, creating a wedding that truly felt like an extension of Ali and KJ’s personalities.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that Ali and KJ’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their vibrant, mystical, and joyful personalities. From the colorful crystal décor to the basketball-inspired elements, every detail was thoughtfully curated to tell their unique love story. Now, Ali & KJ enter a whole new chapter of their life together. It turns out, Love and Basketball isn’t just a movie—it’s their reality.
