I’m so excited to share this Oakwood Country Club wedding editorial photoshoot! There’s something magical about the summer solstice—a time when the sun lingers in the sky a little longer, and everything feels just a bit more alive. That’s the energy I wanted to capture in our latest editorial wedding photoshoot, inspired by the vibrant, joyful celebrations of Scandinavian summers.
When planning this shoot, I knew I wanted it to be bright and colorful, yet calming. It had to feel like a celebration—not just of love, but of community. The summer solstice timing gave us the perfect reason to draw inspiration from Scandinavian midsummer traditions, where the season is embraced with open arms, and everything is infused with warmth and joy.
Choosing the right venue is always a crucial part of the planning process, and Oakwood Country Club was a no-brainer for this shoot. The architecture alone is special, with its timeless elegance that effortlessly elevates any event. But beyond its beauty, it was the sense of approachability that made it the perfect match for our theme. We wanted to create something that felt elevated yet welcoming, where guests could imagine themselves basking in the summer glow, surrounded by loved ones.
The patio at Oakwood provided an ideal backdrop for our intimate reception table display. It felt cozy and inviting, yet refined—exactly the vibe we were aiming for.
One of the most fun aspects of this shoot was playing with color. We drew our palette from wildflowers, embracing soft yellows, lavender, sage green, peachy pink, and poppy red. These colors brought the design to life, making everything feel fresh, vibrant, and full of possibility.
Working with Solstice Floral Studio, we were able to bring these colors into every element of the shoot—from the florals that adorned the table to the bouquet carried by our stunning bride, Lia. The flowers were a reflection of the natural beauty that summer brings, carefully curated to feel both organic and intentional.
One of the best parts of any project is the collaboration, and this shoot was no exception. Lauren from Lauren Benson Photography was an absolute dream to work with. We spent a lot of time together finding the perfect venue, and her support was invaluable as we prepped for the branding aspect of the shoot. She has this incredible ability to capture not just the details but the emotions behind them.
Another standout moment in our collaboration was with Letters by Maude. They stepped in with just 48 hours notice to create a stationery suite that perfectly matched the vibe of the shoot. The attention to detail was amazing, and it really pulled everything together.
One of my favorite parts of any shoot is watching the couple interact. Austin and Lia, our models, were engaged, and you could just feel the love and excitement between them. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do—it’s like getting a sneak peek at their wedding day, where all the joy and anticipation come to life.
At Philosofi Celebration, our core values are love, wisdom, inclusivity, community, and joy. This shoot was such a beautiful reflection of those values, particularly the sense of community and joy that summer brings. It’s a reminder that weddings aren’t just about the couple—they’re about the people who surround them, the shared moments, and the collective celebration of something truly special.
I’m so proud of how this shoot came together. It’s a celebration of everything I love about weddings—the love, the beauty, and most importantly, the joy that comes from bringing people together.
