Some wedding days are just easy in the best way, and this one fits that perfectly. September in Kansas City can go rogue with the heat, but we lucked out with a genuinely perfect wedding day at Countryside Chalet. Bright, comfortable, and the kind of weather that makes you grateful the ceremony was outside.

Both groups got ready inside the house at the venue, which has plenty of space to spread out without feeling separated. The energy all morning felt calm and steady. People were excited, but no one was frantic or rushing around.

One of the sweetest parts of the morning was when Rachel’s bridesmaids surprised her with a scrapbook filled with letters from her friends.

Rachel started with a first look with her dad, which was so emotional. Then she and Chance saw each other, and the whole moment felt very them. Relaxed, a little playful, and easy.

Afterwards, we headed straight into portraits. With sunset hours away, the light was bright and clean, and the garden-inspired color palette photographed beautifully. The bridesmaids each carried a different single-type bouquet, which added a fun little twist to the overall look without pulling any attention away from Rachel.

Countryside Chalet has an amphitheater-style ceremony space downhill from the house. Because of that, it feels tucked away in the best way. Guests could see everything clearly while still feeling like they were in their own pocket of the property.

During the ceremony Rachel and Chance wrote personal vows, and they hit that sweet spot of emotional without drifting into overly long or heavy. You could tell their guests were fully with them the whole time.

Guests headed to the patio after the ceremony. Signature drinks, snacks, and an easygoing crowd made it a very relaxed cocktail hour. The secret garden is nearby, complete with a carriage and giant chess board.

The reception setup felt soft and romantic. Hannah’s florals brought in that garden vibe in a clean, intentional way.

Once Rachel and Chance made their entrance, they went straight into their thank you speech, followed by a welcome from her parents. Every speech throughout the night was genuinely good. Sweet, funny, thoughtful, and focused on both of them. The maid of honor and best man (who is Chance’s identical twin) especially nailed it. These were the kind of speeches I always hope for when I hand out my Toasting Guide.

Dinner, toasts, first dance, and parent dances all flowed really naturally after that. Once the dance floor opened, it stayed full. Lots of energy and people who were excited to hang out and celebrate. Their DJ was a family member, and he did a great job keeping things steady without trying to turn it into a club.

Since sunset was so late, we had plenty of time for golden hour photos. The light was beautiful, and both of them seemed so relaxed by that point.

Later in the evening, they cut the cake without announcing it, which I always love for couples who want to keep things moving without pulling everyone’s attention back to the timeline.

Rachel and Chance are exactly the kind of couple who make wedding days feel so smooth. They’re easygoing, thoughtful, and very grounded in who they are. The day reflected that in every way with good weather, a strong vendor team, and a couple who trusted the process made it a genuinely lovely experience from start to finish.
I don’t even know how to begin to describe how amazing Sofi is! She and her team are absolute gems. Sofi helped my now husband plan his proposal in September of 2024. It was such a wonderful and well thought out day, so naturally we had to have her as our wedding manager! Throughout the planning process, she helped us complete tasks on time, gave us great creative ideas and advice, and made sure that everything was prepped for our wedding day. Sofi does things far beyond what is expected. She contacted each of our vendors and made sure that they understood the plan for the day of and that nobody would have questions for me, my husband, or our families. Sofi and her team have wonderful attention to detail and set up our ceremony and reception spaces beautifully. On our wedding weekend, my husband and our families were able to completely relax and fully trust that everything was handled. Our day went perfectly thanks to Sofi. Several of our friends and family members told us that they noticed how kind and organized she is. We are eternally grateful to Sofi and know that we would not have had nearly as wonderful of a wedding without her. Choosing her as our wedding manager was the best decision we could have ever made!
